Rocla sets the check marks for materials handing
Forklift trucks manufactured under the brands of Rocla, CAT® and Mitsubishi help produce results in logistics centres, storages, production facilities and shopping centres. Ca. 11,000 forklifts swerved to the world during the latest financial period. Approximately 95 % of production goes into export.
Rocla manufactures electronic storage and counterbalance forklift trucks as well as automation forklift systems and produces lifecycle services related to them. In the highly competitive forklift business, the innovativenss of Rocla is already a concept. The product development and assembly plant are located in Järvenpää.
– Technology moves forward all the time – competitiveness, effectiveness and ergonomics can be constantly improved. We bring new products to the market annually, told Rocla’s Sourcing Manager Jarmo Seppänen.
The pioneering actor has also been rewarded several times for its innovativeness. The most recent merits include Best Innovation Award for 360° steering of a counterbalance forklift and Red Dot Design Award for a counterbalance forklift truck with smart technology. Rocla grabbed the Red Dot award for the sixth time.
Alongside technological know-how, it is Rocla’s design, ergonomics and user-oriented thinking that inspired Japanese Mitsubishi to purchase Rocla in 2008.
– The global background organisation is an asset for Rocla, concretised e.g. in product development, wide-ranging sales network and acquisition cooperation, stated Seppänen who has worked at Rocla for 27 years.

Form pallet jacks to smart devices
The demand in the market has been high in recent years. Rocla has also been able to anticipate the global climate challenge. Right now, automated and electric forklifts are becoming more popular. During the past year, the Järvenpää plant has hired almost 100 new employees. Altogether, more than 500 people currently work at Rocla.
Rocla is a pioneer in the solutions for materials handling. Staying in the lead also requires that the strategically important supplier network is able to develop as quickly as the product manufacturer.
Okun Koneistuspalvelu is a long-term contract manufacturer of Rocla, taking care of the manufacture and recall delivery of axes, rollers and several other parts needed in forklifts. Sourcing Manager Sepppänen gives Oku great credit for the ability to grow and develop from a traditional workshop into a significant special machining company.
– When we were starting our cooperation with Okun Koneistuspalvelu in mid-1980s, Rocla was still manufacturing pallet jacks in addition to electronic forklifts. We have come a long way from those times up to today’s automatic and unmanned smart forklifts.
